The Space Between Therapy recognizes the relationship between chronic pain and high emotions. We are working to be helpful in and around the Frederick, MD community of pain helpers and healers.
High emotions are common with chronic condition sufferers from early childhood and adult traumas creating anxiety, post traumatic stressors, and later depression, exacerbating pain. Evaluating for these childhood and adult traumas are critical when assessing complete care for our patients. In many cases, trauma(s) go uncovered creating a vacuum and the never-ending cycle for emotional pain exacerbating physical pain. In these cases, therapy is warranted to reduce physical sensations caused by emotional traumas.
Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies are known to be profoundly helpful for self-soothing and distraction skills. Likewise, understanding these high emotions help patients to reduce pain through coping knowledge and skills generated by reducing cognitive distortions. If you are suffering chronic pain resulting from life trauma, The Space Between is here to help with treatment when you are ready.
